Why You Need to be a Google Partner to do Good PPC

It seems crazy that most PPC “experts” aren’t Google Certified or Google Partners.  If you do PPC with Google Adwords, Google constantly has updates that you need to know about If you aren’t a Google Partner, you don’t receive those updates.  Further, there is legitimacy in being a Google Partner; how else can you prove you are a PPC expert?

If you are a business, you want to make sure that whomever you hire to do your online marketing (and probably even your website) is a Google Partner because when you are a Google Partner, you have to maintain certain standards for your clients.  These best practices guarantee you are doing a good job, and you must keep your standard above a certain level, or Google will revoke your partner status. This means Google is actively monitoring your account to ensure you are doing your job right.

To be a Google Partner, you need to meet and exceed certain criteria:

  1. You have a company profile with Google so you can show up on Google Partner Search.
  2. You are certified in AdWords and have basic and advanced certifications.
  3. You meet the required spend, meaning you have healthy account activity.
  4. You follow Google’s best practices proving you provide your clients with good performance and have maximized and optimized your client’s accounts.

I can tell you from experience that not hiring someone who is a Google Partner, or at least Google Certified, can be detrimental to your company.  I once worked for a web development company a couple of years ago, and they were upselling PPC services to their clients. When I first looked at their PPC Google Adwords accounts, I couldn’t believe what I saw.  The campaigns were set up poorly, the Analytics code wasn’t tracking correctly, and they didn’t implement a lot of the necessary on-page SEO.

They were a web development company that didn’t know how to create a website for marketing which is why you shouldn’t hire just a web development company.  The crazy part was that they were overcharging clients for subpar PPC/online marketing work.  They weren’t Google Certified or a Google Partner, but if they had been, they wouldn’t have fulfilled the necessary requirements to be a Google Partner thus, they would have had to improve their accounts.  If their clients had demanded they were a Google Partner their accounts would have been managed much more effectively, and they would not have had to waste so much of their money on their online marketing.

If you want to step up your game when it comes to your online marketing, hire someone who is a Badged Google Partner “All-Star”.  What that means is that individual performs extremely well with their Google Adwords accounts and that they are invited to exclusive Google meetings and events so they have the most up-to-date knowledge on PPC, SEO, and online marketing in general.  Further, those individuals sponsor Google Events, where they host local events to teach businesses like you how to market themselves.

I can tell you from personal experience that these events are very beneficial for you, and if you happen to be around when I host one of these events, you are more than welcome to come.  Many Google Adwords specialists talk at these events, including myself, and you will find a lot of the information very informative. Google also provides free coffee, pastries, and other free goodies to take home that will help your business or company.

So, in summary, don’t just hire a “PPC expert”; make sure they have one or all of the following criteria:  they are Google Adwords Certified, a Google Partner, and a Google All-Star. I promise you that you will not regret this decision.  This guarantees your website, online marketing, and business are in good hands.
